What is Vandy Wesley?
We are a Methodist-based campus ministry that welcomes students from all backgrounds. We encourage open dialogue and critical thinking about our personal faith journeys. We gather weekly for dinner and student-led discussions, as well as, special events and service opportunities throughout the year.
Who is welcome at Vandy Wesley?
We welcome and celebrate people of all races, religions, economic statuses, sexual orientations, ethnicity, gender identities, gender espressions, and mental or physical ability.
When does Vandy Wesley meet each week?
All Vanderbilt students are welcome to join us on Wednesday nights each week at 6:00pm for dinner and discussion, often referred to as D and D! Come to the Religious House to relax from your busy week on campus. You can also join us on Sundays for lunch! All college students in Nashville can join us for lunch directly after the 11:00am service at West End United Methodist Church. West End UMC is directly across the street from Vanderbilt University.
Are there UMC churches near Vanderbilt that are inclusive to all?
Yes! A few to recommend include West End UMC (.2 mi), Belmont UMC (.3 mi), and Glendale UMC (4.3 mi). Rev. Aimee is the Pastor of Young Adults at West End and worships there regularly. Chat and Chew takes place after the 11:00am service at West End. Belmont UMC and Glendale UMC also offer classes and events for college students. Let us know if you would like to get connected with a congregation!
Are there any service opportunities to participate in at Vandy Wesley?
We have prepared meals with Room in the Inn, built houses with Habitat for Humanity, and served communion together at West End UMC. We believe these opportunties allow us to grow with each other and with God on our faith journeys.
How do I get involved?
Come to one of our weekly meetings or connect with our campus pastor over coffee! Email the Vandy Wesley team at vandywesleyfellowship@gmail.com if you would like to connect or learn more about us!
